A little film project I jumped on during lockdown with the hugely talented team at Territory Studio, Space Jam: A New Legacy. I produced a collection of graphical iconography used to add depth and texture to the virtual world created for the film. The Territory team then took these elements and integrated them into the beautifully animated VFX sequences seen throughout the movie.
My work was inspired by early DR design language, which, interestingly, still feels ahead of its time. I began by sketching ideas on paper before moving quickly to screen to iterate. These digital sketches explored form, weight, and space, and I tried to stay loose, not too precious about any single direction. In a good session, I’d create several sets of icons that tackled the brief in fresh ways, then refine and present the strongest ones.
A fun project, and as always, never a dull moment working with Territory Studio, arguably one of the best in the industry.
