While exploring music game ideas for Nintendo’s then-upcoming Wii U, I developed a series of action-rhythm concepts covering both gameplay and visual direction, built around interaction between the Wii Remote and GamePad.
Working from an open brief gave me the freedom to develop gameplay mechanics and visual ideas in parallel, quickly shaping them into clear, coherent concepts. The process reminded me how much I enjoy creating playful, original experiences and establishing their visual identity from the outset.
It also reinforced my belief that gameplay and visual design are strongest when developed together. Balancing the two has remained central to my approach ever since.
