Kameo: Elements of Power was one of the Xbox 360 launch titles and one of the first projects I worked on after joining Microsoft’s Rare studio. I was brought in to produce a range of character renders for PR and marketing materials.
This was a particularly memorable experience. I was asked to jump into the project with almost no prior knowledge of the software. My boss dropped a large Maya manual on my desk and told me to get on with it. This was before comprehensive online tutorials existed.
Although I was working with relatively low-poly game models, I managed to create strong results with careful posing, lighting and composition. Despite my lack of initial experience, I relied on instinct and a good eye for what worked visually. It was a steep learning curve, but a rewarding one.
