A rare bit of downtime at Territory, which didn’t happen often. I was asked to explore a UX direction for a live-service game similar to Fortnite, which was huge at the time. I’m not usually interested in closely following another game’s established UX direction, but as a small internal exploration, it offered some interesting creative opportunities.
I experimented with oversized typography, gradient flares and subtle colour distortion. The renders aren’t mine; they were reference images I had bookmarked, something I’m always doing for future inspiration, and they suited the rich, bold look I wanted to achieve.
At the time, I had been focused mainly on film and automotive work, so this was a welcome creative break. Returning to a medium after some time away is always a good way to get the creative juices flowing.
